April a month, comes in fourth place with 30 days. In these 30 days, one day becomes for citizens of the United States who feels proud to be the citizen of that country. Today I will tell you about some other enjoyable Holiday which is celebrated in April. As I mentioned in the title above, from where you get an idea about which Day I am talking. Today I will tell you about Patriot’s Day, which is observed in the United States. In Maine, it is written as Patriot’s Day whereas in the United States it is express as Patriots’ Day.
This year 2020, this Day will be celebrated on April 19. A great and memorable day that fills the respect and pride of everyone’s heart. In Maine and Massachusetts, it is the Public Holiday. It is also known as Lexington Day. In Massachusetts, it was very first celebrated in 1894 by Gov. Greenhalgh, in place of Fast Day, which is a public holiday.
Why is it celebrated?
Patriot’s Day celebrated to commemorate the Battles of Lexington and Concord, which was the first battle of the American Revolutionary War.
What people do that Day?
In places like Concord and Lexington, People organize various events and functions that connect the people. And remind them of the importance of that day and feel proud to be a citizen of that country. Whereas if we talk about Massachusetts and Maine it a public holiday, all the schools, colleges, workplaces are closed that day. Let’s move in the Wisconsin State where it is the Day when they educate about the importance and story to the school’s students.
Every year on this Day, a Boston Marathon is doing with high energy and respect. This Marathon is not the modern way to dedicate this Day; it was held since 1897 due to this reason, it is also called Marathon Monday. This year due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, the Boston Marathon is postponed and rescheduled to September 14, 2020.
In Maine, a person celebrates Patriot’s Day Weekend celebration with patriotic songs, dance, organizing many cultural events, and many functions related to that Day. There is a resort whose name is Meadowmere in Ogunquit offers weekend gateway packages for making that Day more exciting and memorable. On Patriot’s Day, a Patriots’ Day Parade is held every year in Concord, Massachusetts. This year 2020 they celebrate the 245th anniversary of the Battle of Lexington and Concord.
